Hancock & Shouse live

Arthur Hancock and Chris Shouse — making Kentucky bluegrass music that will have you moving in the best way.

Bio

After years of performing around the country, Arthur Hancock IV and Chris Shouse have played a lot of music. Both enjoyed their time as front men in the award winning bands The Wooks and The 23 String Band. An interesting dynamic is that both bands were Rocky Grass band competition winners while Hancock and Shouse were the lead vocalists. They are also grateful for their time performing in the collaborative band Wolfpen Branch. Excited to be making Kentucky Bluegrass music together, they continue to represent their roots with world class musicians.

Chris Wade from Nashville on banjo, Laura Orshaw from Taylorsville Kentucky is the primary fiddler with the group, and Somerset's own Ryan Greer is holding down the bass.

Hancock & Shouse are proud Tunes Ambassadors for Can'd Aid that encourages music education and has donated over 4500 instruments to schools in need. They frequently perform in Kentucky based schools and through Can'd Aid provide grants to music teachers. Through various projects Arthur and Chris have donated 280 instruments at 11 schools in Kentucky, Tennessee, New York, Colorado, and Utah. Their specific focus has been on their home region with 182 instruments through 6 in school performances in Kentucky.

Kind Words

"Working with Hancock & Shouse has always been a fantastic experience. I've trusted Arthur and his team with both Garden & Gun events and personal events, and they consistently make the entire booking process seamless. They're incredibly easy to communicate with, responsive every step of the way, and make event day feel effortless. Whether it's an intimate two-person acoustic set or a full band, they have an impressive ability to match the right talent to the occasion and the overall vibe and aesthetic of each event. They're a team I genuinely enjoy working with, and I can't recommend them enough."

"My wife, Sally, and I love Hancock and Shouse! They came out and played for my wife's 50th birthday party and we had about 100 people at the jam. Everybody we talk to after they were done went on and on about how great they were and how much fun they had — we will have them out to our backyard again! Chris and Arthur are two of the best guys in music."
Jeremy Satterwhite
"We have worked with Arthur Hancock going on 10+ years. Not only do they provide great authentic performances, but exude professionalism and are a pleasure to work with. Arthur is easy to communicate with, always responds quickly and is very respectful of other vendors and event timelines. Our clients are always blown away by their talent and it's nice to have flexibility of group sizes/styles."
Melody Rodgers, Refined Social Events
"When it comes to high quality and professional talent, I cannot think of anyone else that represents Kentucky like Hancock and Shouse. They know how to keep audiences entertained no matter how young or old. They hold true to honoring the traditional sound of bluegrass, but also provide a modern style of it. One listen to their song "Lexington" is proof of why anyone should become a listener of their music because they ARE Kentucky."
